The Gent-Wevelgem race has a reputation for being a gruelling route, with riders battling strong winds as they tackled 10 climbs over a 243 kilometre route. I enjoyed shooting the race from the motorbike and saw the first Peter Sagan victory in his rainbow jersey. But then i heard about the terrible accident. Antoine Demoitié was among several others who were involved in the crash around 150km into the race. He was then hit by a motorbike while on the ground and died in a hospital. I’m still in disbelief and feel sad because of the loss of this talented young rider. My thoughts go out to his wife, family and friends.”
